Web Publishing Policy
All Web pages, Web sites, and web projects located within Susquehanna University resources will comply with the standards set out in the policy statements designated below. A page, site, or project not in compliance with stated web publishing policies may be disabled or removed from University resources by the webmaster and/or the web steering committee.
- Each page must have an individual responsible for:
- Content
- Compliance University policy, laws, licensing, and copyright
- Maintenance currency and accuracy
- Use of any web or Internet related University resources to engage in illegal activities (e.g., activities that violate laws of copyright, licensing, slander, libel, etc.) will be considered an abuse of privileges. Violators will be subject to University regulations covering abuse of privileges (See Conditions of Use Policy) and appropriate law enforcement agencies may be informed.
- The use of outside contractors to develop Web pages must be coordinated with the webmaster. Pages developed must operate and be maintainable within the University web environment.
- To avoid potential adverse effects on University-wide network and bandwidth resources, no student, faculty, or staff member may create a publicly accessible web server or host a Web site using University resources without the express permission of the web steering committee. Web servers on campus may not be established to serve the needs of any private or personal business enterprise.
- All publicly accessible pages published within the University web environment will be indexed and available via the campus search engine.
- All files located within the University web environment must be a current, active component of a current Web page. All development, test, or duplicate files should be stored outside of the web environment.
- The webmaster will review file storage practices within the University web environment and will remove any file that is inappropriate to the function of the site (e.g. .pst, .ppt, .mdb, .dll, .pds).
- Student, faculty, and staff directory data will be posted to web-based directories.
