Science Infrastructure Project (SIP)

The Science Infrastructure Project (SIP) for Susquehanna University will encompass a variety of new infrastructure improvements for the Susquehanna campus, upgrades to existing campus infrastructure, upgrades and safety improvements affecting a public thoroughfare, and renovations to Fisher Science Hall. All of these improvements are necessary to permit Susquehanna to embark upon enhancements to campus facilities, including the construction of a new science facility.

The improvements involve four phases of work:

  • The Site Work Phase involves the relocation of and creation of a new parking facility, site preparation work, construction of a chiller corral enclosure, and access routes for campus facilities.
  • The University Avenue Upgrades Phase requires improvements to University Avenue, a public thoroughfare which bisects the Susquehanna campus (from the campus main entrance to the campus entrance opposite 18th Street in Selinsgrove borough), to improve vehicular and pedestrian safety. This phase of the project was required by the Borough of Selinsgrove in order for Susquehanna to receive approval for the SIP, and for construction of a new science facility.
  • The Campus Utility Infrastructure Phase involves the relocation and upgrade of existing campus telecommunications/data infrastructure, and other infrastructure work related to overall campus enhancements.
  • The Fisher ADA and Ground Floor Renovations Phase involves renovations to Fisher Science Hall to address ADA compliance issues of the ground floor and to upgrade ground floor amenities and fixtures to meet current building standards, as well as replacing the windows in the original portion of Fisher Hall.
