Assistant Director, Susquehanna University Fund The assistant director of the Susquehanna University Fund will work with the Susquehanna University Fund, Alumni Relations and Gift Planning in identifying, qualifying and cultivating prospective major donors. The successful candidate will work primarily with prospects celebrating reunions to build the Reunion Scholarship Fund and conduct “discovery visits” to assess giving capacity, inclination and engagement. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Specific responsibilities include identifying alumni, parents and friends who may have the capacity and the inclination to provide significant support for university priorities; conducting face-to-face visits and solicitations for the Susquehanna University Fund, requiring six to seven days of travel each month; soliciting leadership gifts for the Reunion Scholarship Fund from reunion classes; working closely with the SUF and Alumni Relations staff to develop a working knowledge of reunion efforts in order to engage prospects and volunteers; visiting potential donors to gauge interest and capacity in giving to Susquehanna University, with a goal of soliciting gifts of $1,000 or more; referring prospects to the Gift Planning team; preparing timely follow-up materials and summaries for each visit; developing a working knowledge of the Datatel database; and working with university colleagues as appropriate to advance the institution’s goals. The candidate will be expected to work at major institutional and donor events. A bachelor’s degree required. Excellent oral, written, organizational and project management skills are required. The ability to manage multiple tasks, interact effectively with alumni, parents, faculty, staff and administration, work independently, take initiative and travel extensively are essential. Position requires occasional evening and weekend work.
