Welcome
The Department of Sociology & Anthropology cultivates the scientific, interpretive and critical inquiry skills necessary to question what seems to be obvious and to analyze what affects the quality of human life. Students engage directly with the social world in order to develop a deep and practical understanding of its structure and cultural dynamics.
Sociologists examine how membership in groups and interactions with larger social forms shape a great deal of human behavior. Meanwhile, anthropologists explore the common humanity of all people, while still recognizing and honoring the wealth of cultural diversity that the world has to offer.
