New Science Building

Equipping the Sciences, Advancing Academics

In 2010, the Department of Biology will join two other departments in moving into a state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot science facility.  The building will feature 19 teaching and research labs, 30 prep and support spaces, and a rooftop greenhouse for research and teaching.

Biology faculty and students are especially excited about new labs designed specifically to facilitate student/faculty research, and improved spaces that will allow for “workshop” classes, where lecture and lab experience can take place in the same place, at the same time.  The new center will also feature teaching labs designed to promote “investigative” lab experiments.

In addition, the department strongly supports the new building’s environmental features, which embody eco-friendly principles that faculty emphasize in class.
