Mission
The mission of the Department of Psychology is:
- To prepare students for productive careers in psychology, education, business, the human services and associated fields
- To train students to find, comprehend, evaluate and communicate scholarly information
- To challenge students to articulate, refine and apply personal values in response to the intellectual and societal problems addressed by psychology
- To teach students to build the knowledge base of the discipline and apply psychological principles to practical issues
- To ensure that faculty achieve and maintain excellence in classroom instruction and collaborative research with students
- To design and maintain a rigorous curriculum that reflects the broad and evolving nature of the discipline
