Overview

  • The biology major at Susquehanna offers a contemporary curriculum in cellular and molecular biology, as well as ecology and environmental biology.
  • The department emphasizes student participation in active research, in collaboration with faculty.  Most students take advantage of the opportunity to complete a yearlong “capstone” research project, and many present their work at conferences or earn publication in scientific journals.
  • Placement for biology graduates is strong.  Approximately 75 percent go on to earn advanced degrees or complete professional school.
  • In 2010, the department will expand into a cutting-edge new “green” building that will feature 19 labs and a rooftop greenhouse.
