Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Intern Program
Susquehanna University has been selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Education - Intern Program to provide the Teacher Intern Program. This program invites holders of baccalaureate degrees to gain teaching certificates by completing professional education courses at an approved Pennsylvania college or university. Once accepted into the program, candidates may earn a salary and education credits while teaching under supervision.
The Teacher Intern Program has defined criteria for admission that assess the candidates’ potential for teaching through the examination of skill dimensions, academic preparation including an acceptable GPA, completion of qualifying work experience and an assessment of the candidates ability to function in a teaching situation.
Teacher Intern candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an approved university, and must satisfy academic major requirements as described under the department in the current Susquehanna University catalog.
Admission Policy: Candidates entering a Teacher Intern Certification Program must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in their baccalaureate degree. Candidates who have taken and passed the PPST I Series (Reading, Writing, and Math) may enter with a 2.80 GPA. To be fully accepted, intern candidates must also have six credits of college-level mathematics, three credits of college-level English/American literature and three credits of college-level English composition.
Candidates must complete the Intern Program having earned at least the same GPA required for entrance.
