Marr, Moormann Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes

SELINSGROVE, Pa.– Two Susquehanna University athletes are among the six chosen as Landmark Senior Scholar Athletes for their respective winter sports. Mike Marr (Muncy, Pa./Warrior Run) is the men's indoor track and field honoree, and Ashley Moormann (Stanhope, N.J./Pope John XIII) earned the award for women's indoor track and field.

Marr has enjoyed a stellar career for the Susquehanna track and field program that includes helping his team to a runner-up finish at the inaugural Landmark Championships. He earned All-America status as a junior when he placed 6 th in the high jump at the NCAA Championships, and he has either automatically or provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships five times.

Marr has won four conference championships in the high jump, and holds the Susquehanna indoor record in the event (6' 8 ¼"). He is majoring in biology with a minor in healthcare studies and is a member of both the Beta Beta Beta biology honor society and Alpha Lambda Delta national honor society.

Moormann has been a prolific competitor for the Susquehanna track and field team throughout her career while also excelling in the classroom. She made her mark for the Crusaders at the Landmark Indoor Championships by placing third in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw. She has nine top-eight individual finishes at conference championships, and she helped the Crusaders to a runner-up finish at the first Landmark Championship.

In the classroom, Moormann is studying early childhood and elementary education and was honored as a Division III Track and Field Academic All-American in 2005. She has been on the Dean's List every semester and is a member of Education and Mathematics Honor Societies.

A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one senior from each of the winter sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

The Landmark Conference will select a Senior Scholar Athlete in each of the 19 varsity sports sponsored by the conference over the course of the 2007-08 academic year.
